Nicolas Byron

Sir Nicolas Byron (died 1503) was an English Knight.

Origins

He was the younger son of Sir Nicholas Byron of Clayton, Manchester and Alice Butler, daughter of Sir John Butler of Bewsey, and grandson of Sir John Byron (died 1450). He was the heir of his brother Sir John Byron who died without heir on 3 May 1488.

Title

He was created a Knight of the Bath by Arthur, Prince of Wales on the occasion Prince Arthur's marriage on 14 November 1501.[1]

Family

Nicholas Byron married Joan Bushler or Bussey, a daughter of Sir John Bushler[2][3] of Haugham, Lincolnshire and Elizabeth Berkeley. He was the father of Sir John Byron (died 1567). Joan survived her husband and married Sir Gervase Clifton of Clifton, Nottingham.[4]
