Shanvey (from Irish: Sean-bheith, meaning "old birch")[1] is a small village and townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It lies about 6km north of Limavady on Aghanloo Road, the A2 coastal route between Limavady and Coleraine. It is designated as a hamlet and is situated within Causeway Coast and Glens district and in the North Londonderry Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.[2]

Features

The hamlet has developed in the area between the flood plain of the River Roe and the lower slopes of Binevenagh Mountain, which provides an impressive backdrop to the settlement. It includes a small primary school.[2]
