Shanmugarajan

Mr. Shanmugaraja has completed M.A., M.Phil in Tamil Literature. In 2002, He completed his Diploma course in Design and direction in NSD, New Delhi. After he returned from NSD, he started nigazh theatre centre in Madurai. He is the Founder-Director of NIGAZH Theatre Centre. He has been involved in the field of theatre for more than twenty years as an actor, director and design expert. He has been conducting workshops, festival and seminars on theatre across the country and he has designed and directed several theatre productions such as Marat/ Sade, The lesson, Porukki, School for wives, Horse egg, Land of Pongo and Chippichung etc. In his theatre projects from 2002 onwards, he explored the theatrical texts together with specialists of different fields as architects, psychoanalysts, painters, puppeteers and so on. Since 2002 he is doing a notable work in Indian theatre scenario.

He was introduced in Tamil cinema in 2004 by Padma shri.Kamalahasan in Virumaandi movie. He took placed a leading role in Virumaandi. The film takes him a tremendous success, and that lead him to act more than 80 films in Tamil and other languages (Hindi, Telugu).

Apart from acting he has been doing casting and actors training for several films and tele serials.

Furthermore, he is a columnist for several Tamil magazines, and published two eminent books in Tamil about theatre.

He is an alumnus of The American College in Madurai and National School of Drama.^[1]
