Shankar Chakraborty is a Bengali film and television actor.[1][2] Shankar Chakraborty has done several Tele serials and has appeared in pivotal roles in numerous Bengali films. His debut was in a Bengali film called Anubhab, where he played the lead role. He became a household name in Bengal when he played the character of Gansha in the widely acclaimed tele serial Bibaho Obhijan. Over the years he has appeared in various Bengali films and serials. Apart from commercial films, his work in uttara, dosar, khela,ashukh, Cancer have been widely appreciated. He and his wife, Sonali Chakraborty, appeared together in a game show called Barishaler Bor Aar Kolkatar Kone which ran for 6 years on Etv Bangla and was immensely popular. He is currently working in television shows such as Ishti kutum, Keya patar nouko, Chokher tara tui and Janani, which are telecast on popular Bengali channels. His films Achena Batash, by Anjan Das, and Buno Hash, by Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury, are slated to release in 2014.
