Scale of one to ten

A scale of one to ten, or scale from one to ten, is a general and largely vernacular concept used for rating things, people, places, ideas, and so on.[1][2] It is often noted as a scale where 10 represents "best" or "perfect" quality[1][2] and 1 represents the opposite. Such a scale is similar in function to other rating scales, such as star ratings which are typically out of five.

Ratings below 1 or above 10 are common hyperbole. The "up to eleven" idiom is an example of this.

The "Perfect 10" score in gymnastics is an example of 10 on such a scale being used to indicate perfection.
