Robert Thompson (English footballer)

Robert Thompson (1890 – ?) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward. Born in Coundon Grange, County Durham, Thompson played for Wingate Albion, Preston North End, Glossop, Durham City, Leeds United, Ashington, Luton Town Pontypridd, Accrington Stanley, Bury, Tranmere Rovers (trial), Hartlepools United, Goole Town and York City.[1] He was a member of the inaugural Leeds United side and was the team's top scorer in their first season. He also score the team's first hat-trick.
