Richard Paul Stravius or Richard Pauli-Stravius (1590–1654) was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Auxiliary Bishop of Cologne (1642–1654) and Titular Bishop of Dionysias.[1][2]
Biography
Richard Paul Stravius was born in Kuttekoven, Belgium in 1590 and ordained a priest in Liège, Belgium in 1631.[1][2] In 1634, he was appointed Apostolic Internuncio to Flanders.[1] On 21 Oct 1641, he was appointed during the papacy of Pope Urban VIII as Auxiliary Bishop of Cologne and Titular Bishop of Dionysias.[1][2] On 2 Feb 1642, he was consecrated bishop by Jacques Boonen, Archbishop of Mechelen, with Pierre Antoine Triest, Bishop of Ghent, and Gaspard Dubois, Bishop of Antwerp, serving as co-consecrators.[1][2] In 1642, he resigned as Apostolic Internuncio to Flanders.[1] He served as Auxiliary Bishop of Cologne until his death on 24 Jan 1654.[1][2]
