Route 15Route 33

Route 24 is a limited-access state highway in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It runs approximately 8 miles (13 km) from Route 114 in Portsmouth to Massachusetts Route 24 in Fall River, Massachusetts. The layout of Rhode Island's highways effectively make Tiverton and Little Compton isolated from the rest of the state. Because of this, people travelling to this part of the state from the Providence area will often cut through Massachusetts using Interstate 195 and Route 24. This route is often far faster than other routes which stay inside Rhode Island.

Route description

Route 24 starts at Route 114 in Portsmouth. It heads northeast and has a short concurrency with Route 138 over the Sakonnet River Bridge to Tiverton. It continues northeast until the border with Fall River, Massachusetts, where it continues as Massachusetts Route 24.

Exit list

Exits along the length of Route 24 were numbered only on gore signs until 2014 when an exit replacement project put numbers on all signs except for those for Exit 6, Fish Road.[2] All interchanges in Rhode Island will be renumbered to mileage-based numbers by 2018 under a plan announced by RIDOT in March 2016.[3] The entire route is in Newport County.
