The República, styled with an accented u, is a national daily newspaper published by Nepal Republic Media Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu, Nepal. The national daily has a partnership with the International New York Times, and the INYT is printed and distributed, along with República, in Nepal. Republica is reported to have big influence amongst Nepali policymakers and diplomats.

Overview

The newspaper began its online edition on January 1, 2009 and print edition on April 24, 2009. Ameet Dhakal was the founding editor-in-chief of the newspaper but he resigned in April 2012 and Kosmos Biswakarma took over the editorship. After Kosmos Bishwakarma resigned in November 2014, Subhash Ghimire, a Harvard graduate (Masters in Public Policy, 2014) was appointed the new editor in October 2014.

The publication is owned by the Gyawali family, who co-founded Nepal's Kantipur Publications Pvt. Ltd. but they split in 2008.
