Ram Shah

Ram Shah (1609–1636) was the king of the Gorkha state of Nepal. He was the father of Dambar Shah. He was one of the great rulers and reformers of Gorkha. He was well-known for his social, economic, judicial and administrative reforms. He introduced a standar system of measurement, fixed rate of courts, developed trade with neighbouring kingdoms, carried religious reforms and so on. He was a learned king and he respected scholars. He was known as a 'just king'. There was a saying in his time, 'If you are deprived of justice, go to Gorkha'.^[1]
