Discography

Qurram Hussain began his professional music journey with Josh in the late 1990s. Somewhere along his musical journey, Q's interests started to change and he found himself more and more interested in a variety of musical genres including R&B, Hip Hop, Drum n’ Bass (à la Talvin Singh), and qawwali such as that being created by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The music industry in the UK was experiencing releases of CDs like "Anokha : Soundz of the Asian Underground" and there was a buzz in the industry of what the next interpretation of fusion was going to sound like. In the midst of all this, Q was busy finding his own sound, his own interpretation of all his various influences and defining his own art. That gave birth to one of his first compositions for JoSH, Main Hoon Tanha, which also ended up being the title track for their extremely successful debut album. That spark got the creative juices flowing, and he was able to explore more ideas, eventually ending up with 8 songs that defined Josh's, "Main Hoon Tanha".

Music Director - Rangreza

Qurram Hussain has stepped up as music director of upcoming Pakistani musical romance film, Rangreza.[8] He is the voice of lead character, Bilal Ashraf, in the film.[9] Qurram is doing four songs for Rangreza.[10] The film's cast also includes Gohar Rasheed and Urwa Hocane.

Qurram Hussain and Komal Rizvi have recently collaborated for the first time to bring their fans a super amazing take of the weddings' classic 'Desan Da Raja', which was an ever-so-popular song at weddings.[12]

The track evokes the same feeling of joy and celebration as did the original classic, which was originally sung by Naseem Begum for the movie Kartar Singh 1959.The theme of the song has been kept the same, whilst new lyrics have been put in, which have made the song more festive, more full of life and joyous![13]

‘Desan Da Raja’ has gone viral as a popular ‘Mehendi’ dance track and is being used as a fun and festive song at various events nationwide![12]

Directed by Amaan Ahmed from ‘Uncut Studios’, the song's video shows the true taste of the streets of Pakistan. Qurram is seen strolling around various market places in the midst of Karachi, where he was originally from, before shifting to Montreal, Canada.[12]

Desan Da Raja’ was released nationwide on Eid.[13]

Desan Da Raja was the first solo venture of Qurram Hussain outside JoSH.[14]
