Qiongzhou University (simplified Chinese: 琼州学院; traditional Chinese: 瓊州学院; pinyin: Qióngzhōu Dàxué) is a university located in Sanya city (formerly Wuzhishan), in Hainan, China.[2][3]

Quongzhou University has about 10,000 students from all over China. Most of them are interested in learning something connected to the tourist industry so English is a necessary subject of study. All the buildings are modern and recently constructed and are surrounded by tropical rolling green hills. Great importance is attached to the liberal arts, which are usually neglected by most Chinese universities.[1]

The university is in the process of moving from its old location in the center of the island to its current location in Sanya, which is at the most southern part of the island of Hainan. The University's name will also be changed to Sanya University.

The school is located just outside town to the west of Sanya, in one of the most beautiful parts of the world in by far the most tropical part of China, which receives visitors from around the world, especially Russians who enjoy the warm tropical weather in the middle of the coldest time of the year. Sanya has long white sand beaches; these are situated in the downtown area with numerous restaurants and shopping areas within walking distance. While these beaches are usually very crowded, there are substantial deserted virgin beaches away from the city centre.
