The Puerto Rico Tip-Off is an ESPN Regional Television owned and operated preseason college basketball tournament that takes place in late November of each year, usually the week before Thanksgiving. For 2016 the Tournament will take place at HP Field House in Orlando, Florida due to Zika virus outbreak in Puerto Rico.[1] It takes place in Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Previously the event was held in Bayamón, Puerto Rico at Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez and San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. [2] The tournament was started in 2007.

2016 Tournament

The 2016 field of eight teams to compete in the 2016 Puerto Rico Tip-Off was unveiled on July 14, 2016.[3] The 2016 Field will include Arizona State, Clemson, Davidson, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Tulane and Xavier. For 2016 the Tournament will take place at HP Field House in Orlando, Florida due to Zika virus outbreak in Puerto Rico instead of Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Tournament will take place November 17-20. For 2016, the tournament was called the Tire Pros Invitational.

2015 Tournament

The 2015 field of eight teams to compete in the 2015 Puerto Rico Tip-Off was unveiled, which will begin on November 19, 2015, have been confirmed.[4][5] On July 15th, 2015, SB Nation reported the first round matchups, with Texas Tech-Utah and Mississippi State-Miami on one side of the bracket and Minnesota-Temple, plus Butler-Missouri State on the other. [6]
