Entrance to Prospect School

Prospect School (originally formed from combining Stoneham Boys School and Westwood Girls School) is a secondary school in West Reading, Berkshire, England. Stoneham Secondary School for Boys opened in April 1956 on Cockney Hill and Westwood Girls School was opened in April 1958 on Honey End Lane, the road adjacent to Cockney Hill. The two schools were built quite nearby each other, some people thinking that this explains why Prospect School now has two entrances. In fact, the reason is because Stoneham School itself comprised two schools in one building: a grammar school and a secondary modern school, both for boys only. However, the exact date of its establishment remains unknown, yet it was certainly formed after the year 1980; Stoneham Boys School still stood alone that year.

Admissions

The school caters for those in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form Key Stage 5, between the ages of 11 and 16. The school follows the National Curriculum. Prospect currently has 1297 students.

In 2013, the school was investigated by the exam board AQA following allegations of cheating regarding GCSE Science coursework for which it featured in the ITV documentary "Exposure: Making the Grade" on August 12th 2015. No sanctions to staff were issued after an inconclusive investigation.
