Pietro Amat di San Filippo

Pietro Amat di San Filippo Cagliari, 22 October 1826 – Rome, February 15, 1895) was an italian geographer, historian and bibliographer.

He was born to a noble Sardinian family of Catalan origin.^[1] He was the fourth of fifteen brothers, the sons of Giuseppe Amat di San Filippo ^[2]

He studied at the College of Barnabiti in Bologna, then undertook a diplomatic career as secretary of legation to the Holy See in 1851.^[3]

He married Donna Angela Musio, daughter of a judge and senator and became member of the Italian Geographical Society and undertook studies in geography. He ended his career as a secretary of the Ministry of Finance.^[4]
