Cassie McIntosh (born 10 November 1992) is an Australian model[1] and professional wrestler[5] currently signed to WWE under the ring name Peyton Royce,[3] performing on their developmental territory NXT.

In February 2009, Royce made her professional wrestling debut at Pro Wrestling Women's Alliance (PWAA) as KC Cassidy,[5] and would compete on the independent circuit with multiple promotions for several years, becoming a one-time PWA Women's Champion,[8] and winning the Vera and Jenny Memorial Cup for the support of breast cancer.[9][10]

In 2015, Royce signed a contract with WWE, and was assigned to WWE's Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.[11]

Early life

Cassie McIntosh was born in Sydney and later moved to Melbourne, and then Calgary, Alberta, Canada to train with Lance Storm.[7] Prior to her training, she excelled in dance. She attended the same high school as fellow wrestler Billie Kay.[2][7]

Royce began watching wrestling at the age of 9, and cites Eddie Guerrero as her inspiration to become a professional wrestler.[2]

Professional wrestling career

Independent circuit (2009–2015)

On 28 February 2009, Royce made her professional wrestling debut in Pro Wrestling Women's Alliance as KC Cassidy, teaming with Robbie Eagles in a mixed tag team match, defeating Madison Eagles and Mike Valuable.[5] For the next year in the promotion, She traded victories with Jessie McKay in singles matches, including a loss in a PWWA championship match.[5] On 7 January 2011, she unsuccessfully challenged Madison Eagles for the championship.[5] Royce made two appearances for the American all-female promotion Shimmer Women Athletes, as a tag team partner for Bambi Hall.[5] She was originally the scheduled opponent for Su Yung at a Shine Wrestling event in Ybor City, Florida, but instead became the replacement opponent for Rhia O'Reilly.[12] She also appeared for promotions Pro Wrestling Alliance Australia, New Horizons Pro Wrestling, Melbourne City Wrestling and River City Wrestling.[8][13]

WWE

NXT (2015–present)

Royce received a tryout with WWE during their tour of Australia in August 2014.[2][14] On 13 April 2015, WWE announced Royce as part of a new class of NXT trainees.[11] She made her televised in-ring debut on the 15 May episode of NXT, in a loss to the NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks.[15] On the 22 July episode of NXT, Royce competed in a match against the debutant, Eva Marie, in which she was defeated.[4] On 7 August, she was given the new ring name Peyton Royce.[3]

After competing in most of her matches at NXT as a face,[16][17] Royce competed on her first match as a heel on the 9 December episode of NXT, losing to the NXT Women's Champion Bayley in a non-title match.[18] On the 13 January 2016, episode of NXT, Royce competed in a number one contender's battle royal for Bayley's NXT Women's Championship, which was won by Carmella.[19] After some hiatus from in-ring televised action, Royce returned on the 18 May episode of NXT, where she was defeated by Carmella[20] and following another long hiatus, she made her imminent return to television on the 5 October episode of NXT, where she was accompanied by her new ally, Billie Kay, and achieved her first live victory in the company by defeating Danielle Kamela.[21] On the 16 November episode of NXT, Royce along with Kay attacked Liv Morgan during their match that ended in disqualification, before Aliyah and Ember Moon saved her.[22] This resulted in a six-women tag team match at NXT TakeOver: Toronto that was taped and aired for the 23 November episode of NXT, in which Aliyah, Moon and Morgan defeated Royce, Kay and their mysterious partner Daria Berenato.[23]
