Peter Atkinson (baptised 1780 - 1843) was an English architect.[1]

Atkinson was educated in his profession by his father, Peter Atkinson (1735–1805). A former pupil, Richard Hey Sharp, (1793-1853) succeeded Phillips until 1827, after which Atkinson's sons, John Bownas Atkinson (1807-1874) and William Atkinson (1811-1886) assisted their father.

For many years Atkinson had been a steward and surveyor to the corporation of York. He erected many churches in the service of the church commissioners. During the last years of his life he resided abroad.
