Paul Michael Weir is the head men's basketball coach at New Mexico State University (NMSU). He was named to the position on April 26, 2016 as the successor to Marvin Menzies, who the previous week had accepted the head coaching position of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team. Weir had been an assistant at the university, where he arrived in 2007 as an assistant in Menzies' first year. Weir came to NMSU after spending two years as an assistant coach under Steve Alford at the University of Iowa. The NMSU job is Weir's first head coaching position at the college level. Weir is the 25th person to hold the head coaching position in the history of Aggie basketball. Prior to his stint at Iowa, Weir had served as director of basketball operations at Northwestern State University. Weir is one of three Canadian born NCAA Division I men's basketball head coaches all time, joining James Naismith and Pete Newell on that short list. Weir grew up in Toronto, Canada and graduated from Iona Catholic Secondary School while earning all regional and city honors playing point guard for the basketball team.

Weir served as an assistant coach for the Costa Rica national basketball team in 2015.
