Patrick Djivas

Yan Patrick Erard Djivas (born 23 May 1947) is a French-Italian bass player and composer. He is one of the member of the PFM rock band.

Biography

Djivas was born at Cannes, and started his career in 1964 as guitar player for rhythm and blues bands. In 1969 he moved to Italy, where he played in Rocky Roberts' supporting band. In this year he also moved to electric bass.

Two years later he was among the founders of progressive rock band Area with Demetrio Stratos, Giulio Capiozzo and Gaetano Leandro, whom he had met while registering of the album Radius by Alberto Radius. After playing in the Area debut album Arbeit macht frei, in 1973 he entered PFM, of which, As of 2015, he is still an active member.

Aside from his work in all PFM's albums and tours, Djivas also produced music for TV, cinema and theatre, and was the producer of several Italian singers.

Starting from 2004 he has also worked as music writer and teacher for magazines such as Strumenti Musicali, Computer Music & Project Studio and others. In 2007 he co-wrote, together with Pier Calderan, the book Cubase 4 - Guida completa, a guide on computer music.
