OncLive is a web resource for physicians and other health professionals focused on the treatment of cancer. It features peer-reviewed original medical journal articles, video interviews, panel discussions, major medical conference coverage, daily medical news, and serves as the website for several oncology-focused magazines. All content in OncLive is free and does not require registration.[2]

The website was initially launched in 2000 as oncologynetguide.com as part of the publication Oncology Net Guide.[3] In March, 2011, Intellisphere, relaunched both the publication Oncology Net Guide and the website under the name OncLive. At the time, the magazine went to approximately 20,000 physicians.[4] The magazine is now published under the title OncologyLive. In 2013, the website serves as the primary webpage for several oncology focused publications Oncology & Biotech News, OncologyLive, Urologists in Cancer Care, Oncology Nursing News, and Contemporary Oncology.[5]

Publications

OncologyLive (ISSN 1535-7201) is a monthly publication that circulates to 22,000 medical/hematologic, radiation, and surgical oncologists.[6] The editor-in-chief for OncologyLive is Maurie Markman, MD, from Cancer Treatment Centers of America.[7]

Oncology & Biotech News (Also known as OBTN) is a monthly publication for community-based oncologists and hematologists that covers emerging treatments, advances in clinical research, and industry news.[6] The tabloid's editor-in-chief is Andre Goy, MD, from the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Oncology Nursing News covers trends in oncology nursing, as well as treatment guidelines, government regulations, and advocacy groups.[6] The magazine combines oncology research with nurse-authored commentaries. Continuing education credits are available in each issue.[8] Lisa Schulmeister, RN, MN, APRN-BC, OCN, FAAN, from LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, is the magazine's editor-in-chief.[7]

Contemporary Oncology (Print ISSN 2163-8918; Online ISSN 2163-8926) is a peer-reviewed journal, published quarterly. Clinical articles provide overviews of treatment options for a particular disease state or emerging therapies and diagnostic techniques. The journal also includes personal accounts of care from cancer survivors and expert commentary on patient concerns. The journal's editor-in-chief is Jason J. Luke, MD, from the University of Chicago.[7]

Urologists in Cancer Care is geared toward urologists who treat prostate, testicular, bladder, and renal cell cancers. The editor-in-chief for the magazine is Raoul S. Concepcion, MD, from Urology Associates, PC.[7]

Oncology Business Management is geared toward oncologists running practices. The editor-in-chief of the publication is Andrew L. Pecora, MD, from the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. The magazine is published in collaboration with the website Oncology Business Review.[7]

Giants of Cancer Care

In July 26, 2013, the inaugural “Giants of Cancer Care” awards were presented to 12 oncology professionals at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach, California.[9] On October 21, 2013, Hope S. Rugo, MD, from University of California, San Francisco was named the chair of the 2014 award program.[10]

Partnerships

OncLive operates a Strategic Alliance Partnership with several cancer centers and oncology schools of nursing.[11] In April 2013, the program added the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to a list of a dozen other institutions.[12]
