North Oakley is a hamlet in the civil parish of Hannington in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Tadley, which lies approximately 6.4 miles (10.3 km) north-east from the village.

Governance

The hamlet of North Oakley is part of the civil parish of Hannington,[1] and is part of the Kingsclere ward of Basingstoke and Deane borough council.[2] The borough council is a Non-metropolitan district of Hampshire County Council.

Tidgrove

Tidgrove '100 acres in the Parish of Kingsclere, abutting on the King's highway from Kingsclere to Oakley on the East part and upon Palampton [Polhampton] ground on the West part, and Okeleye Down on the South part, and on the land called Wakeridge [Walkeridge] on the North part' belonged to Sandleford priory and then to the Dean and Canons of Windsor of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, as shown by some surviving leases:
