Normal Community West High School is a public high school in Normal, Illinois. The mascot is the wildcat and school colors are black and silver. The school opened in 1995 and its current student body numbers roughly 1,600.

Football

In 2011, Normal West had its first undefeated season in school history. (9-0)

Soccer

In the school's short existence, the girls soccer team has won four Big Twelve Conference titles, along with two IHSA State Tournament qualifications, and a third place finish at the IHSA State Tournament in 2008.

Cross Country

The Women's Cross Country Team has continually proven to be the most dominant sport in the school's history. The Lady Wildcats have won the past 4 consecutive Big Twelve Conference Titles (2009-2012), and are predicted to continue this dominance over cross town rival Normal Community High School.

Track and Field

The Women's Track and Field Team is coached by Amy Copple, who also serves as the guardian of the school's pool.

Band

The Normal Community West Marching Band has had many achievements including, qualifying for the semifinals at Bands of America Grand Nationals in 1997, qualifying for Finals at the 1999 St. Louis Regional, appearing in the Fiesta Bowl parade in 2002, 2008, and 2012, winning their division in 2002 and placing 5th in Finals at the Field Competition in 2008. In 2008, the Normal Community West Marching Band won their division in the State of Illinois Invitational Marching Band Festival, the de facto state championship.[1]

Speech and drama

The school has a successful speech & drama department, with the speech team and competitive drama bringing home many awards for the school, including being named Regional Champions (2007, 2008, 2010), and Sectional Champions (2008). In 2008, 2010 & 2011 NCWHS advanced all events to Sectionals with 7 Regional Champs in 2008 & 2010, and 6 in 2011. In 2010 the speech team had a historic year with a record five national qualifiers.

The competitive drama season includes Group Interpretation (G.I.) and Contest Play (Drama). The school brought one of the two shows state in 1998-2002, 2004–2008, 2010 & 2011, with both shows being state qualifiers in 2007 & 2008. The Wildcats were Sectional Champions in 2000 (Drama), 2002 (Drama), & 2007 (G.I.), and placed at State in 1999 (Drama- 5th place), 2000 (Drama- 3rd place), 2008 (Drama- 4th place) & 2010 (G.I.- 3rd place).
