Neilos Kabasilas

Neilos Kabasilas (Greek: Νεῖλος Καβάσιλας), Latinized as Nilus Cabasilas, was a fourteenth-century Metropolitan of Thessalonica, uncle of notable Palamite theologian Nicholas Kabasilas, and teacher of Demetrios Kydones. Kydones described him as "passionately enthusiastic" about Thomism, which made Kabasilas an anomaly in that he also vigorously defended Palamism and attacked the Western interpolation of the creed.[1]

He succeeded Gregory Palamas as Archbishop of Thessalonica.
