Nico Hischier (born January 4, 1999) is a Swiss ice hockey player currently playing with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Playing career

Major junior

Hischier was selected 6th overall by the Halifax Mooseheads in the 2016 CHL Import Draft. After hearing input from Halifax's general manager and Swiss former Mooseheads player Timo Meier, Hischier committed to Halifax.[1]

Personal Life

Hischier comes from a family of athletes, where his father was a soccer player and his mother was a swimmer. He is the youngest of three siblings, with a sister and a brother that plays for SC Bern.[2] Hischier played both hockey and soccer as a child, but gave up soccer when he was 12.
