Nenad Tomović (Serbian Cyrillic: Ненад Томовић; born 30 August 1987) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays for Italian club Fiorentina and the Serbia national team as a central defender.

Club career

Tomović began his career at his native city's major club, Radnički Kragujevac. He was then transferred to FK Rad, where he spent the majority of his youth career. Even as a very young player, he was a starter for FK Rad in the Serbia and Montenegro Superliga 2005–06. On several occasions, Tomović tried his luck at Red Star Belgrade, but never got enough playing time which is why he always went back to FK Rad where he was an established member. It is only when former Red Star coach, Aleksandar Janković arrived at the helm that Tomović got a real chance.

He has since then been a regular at Marakana and played almost every game in the second half of the Serbian Superliga 2007–08 season. Tomović signed a 5-year contract with his current club. On 13 July 2009 Genoa C.F.C. signed the Serbian defender from Red Star Belgrade for 3.5m.

On 3 January 2011, Lecce announced they had signed Tomović, who wears 'Nenad' on the back of his shirt, on loan for the remainder of the season.[1] After the end of the 2010–11 season, Tomović signed a loan deal with Lecce again for the following season.

He joined Fiorentina for the 2012-13 season in a co-ownership deal, where he featured regularly at both center defense and right back. After the season, Fiorentina bought the other half of his card from Genoa C.F.C., and is now a full member of the Viola.

International career

Tomović has played for the Serbia national under-21 football team. He was also called up by coach Miroslav Đukić to represent Serbia's national Olympic football team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Tomović made his full senior debut on 14 December 2008 in a 1–0 friendly defeat to Poland in a squad made up of mainly domestic-based players.

Tomović was forced out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup due to injuries.
