National Sports Organisation (India)

The National Sports Organisation is an effort by the Government of India to promote the development of athletics and sporting activities with the youth of India.

It is present in many important institutions of India such as the IITs and IIMs, and very talented athletes are selected.

The Founder of GOLDEN DRAGONS Prof. Dr. S.M. SIDDIQ MAHMOODI, the PIONEER of SPORTS CHANBARA in India, A master of high spirit and etiquette, dedicated for the cause of education through Martial Science, is introducing it in India from Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Golden Dragons was established in the year 1986 to promote Japanese sportive martial arts in India, which has produced many National & State players of JUDO / KARATE.

Prof. Siddiq started learning the basics of KENDO from which SPORTS CHANBARA has evolved, in the late 70’s under the guidance and supervision of one of the great master of Hyderabad Sensei Behram Mistry. Later he has the opportunity to refine and learn the advance techniques of SPORTS CHANBARA under the Japanese SPORTS CHANBARA master & Supervising International Director Kenshi Kenichi Hosokawa Sensei.

Prof. Siddiq achieved 5th Degree Black Belt and "SHIHAN" title in SPORTS CHANBARA under the guidance of Kenshi Kenichi Hosokawa Sensei the highest ranking SPORTS CHANBARA master & assistant under Kaicho Tetsundo Tanabe founder.

With the dawn of new decade of the century the year 2009, Prof. Siddiq started teaching SPORTS CHANBARA. In process of promoting this unique martial sport SPORTS CHANBARA many demonstrations were presented at various institutions and organizations

To highlight the role of India in sportive martial sport like SPORTS CHANBARA, for the first time in Independent India and in celebration of Silver Jubilee of Golden Dragons association, SPORTS CHANBARA ASSOCIATION OF ANDHRA PRADESH with the top banner as SPORTS CHANBARA INDIA FEDERATION was formed.

SPORTS CHANBARA with the support of Golden Dragons team. By taking the initiative to promote the art of SPORTS CHANBARA from Hyderabad with a motto of bringing India on the fore front in the International SPORTS CHANBARA Championships, Prof. Siddiq conducted the first ever seminar in Hyderabad.

1st time in SPORTS CHANBARA history India has been invited to host the 5th ASIAN-OCEANIA SPORTS CHANBARA Tournament, This proud moment for our country & State,That has become possible only because of the representation given by Prof. Dr.S.M.Siddiq Mahmoodi who is the pioneer of SPORTS CHANBARA in India.

Till date Spochan India team has bagged the following

2009 - 4th Asian-Oceania championships Nepal - 2 gold & 1 Silver for India

2009 - World Championships Yokohama Japan - 1st silver for India.

2010 - World Championships Tokyo Japan - Best referee trophy to Dr.Siddiq

2011 - 1st Nationals in Hyderabad & team selection for the Asian championships

2011 - 5th Asian-Oceania championships Nepal 11 medals & 3 trophies for India

2011 - Maharashtra chapter seminar & workshop

2012 - 2nd Nationals in Mumbai & 1st Tanabe cup championships

2012 - Tamilnadu chapter seminar & workshop

2012 - World Championships Tokyo Japan - Gold medal for referee to Dr.Siddiq

2012 - instructor seminar in Hyderabad.

2013 - 3rd Nationals & 1st Hosokawa cup championships in Hyderabad.

2013 - hosted the 7th ASIAN - OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN HYDERABAD in Aug

2014 - 40th WORLD SPOCHAN CHAMPIONSHIPS, 2nd Nov 2014, Komazawa Stadium, 40th World Sports Chanbara Championships Indian team bagged 1 Gold and 1 Bronze

2015 -5th Nationals ,Sports Chanbara Championships Hyderabad - India

2015 -41st World Spochan Championships, November 1, 2015 in JAPAN, bagged 1 silver, 1 Bronze and also a trophy for being a referee in the final matches

2015 - In 41st World Spochan Championships, Prof. Dr. S.M. Siddiq Mahmoodi has been Awarded with Grand Master Medal for the contribution of Art in INDIA
