Naresh Vijaya (born Naresh Krishna Murthy) is an Indian film actor known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema and television. He ventured into cinema as a child artiste in 1970. He starred in around 90 films in a variety of roles, including comedy.

Personal life

Naresh was born in Chennai. Currently resides in Hindupur located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, to actress Vijaya Nirmala, and K. S. Murthy. Prior to joining theater, he attended, Ramakrishna Mission High School, Hindu High School and did his college at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan. He has been married thrice and has three sons.[1][2]

Career

Film

Naresh acted as a child in the film Pandanti Kapuram in 1972. He made his debut as an actor in lead role with Prema Sankellu (1982), directed by his mother. He then starred in the box office hit Nalugu Stambhalata (1982).[3] His other notable works include box office hits like Rendu Jella Sita (1983), Sreevariki Prema Lekha (1984), Sri Kanaka Mahalaxmi Recording Dance Troupe (1987), Bava Bava Panneeru (1989), Manasu Mamatha (1990), Jamba Lakidi Pamba (1993), Malliswari (2004), Oka Oorilo (2005), 100% love (2011), and Drushyam (2014).

Politics

Naresh is also an active politician, and a former member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He is the Founder president of the Non-Profit organization, Blood Brothers Club in Anantapur District, which is involved in philanthropic activities.[4]

Accolades

He has received state Nandi Award for Best Actor for Sogasu Chuda Taramaa? (1995) and Nandi Special Jury Award for Chitram Bhalare Vichitram (1992). He has also received one Television Nandi Award for his work in Doordarshan's Munimanikyam Gari Kantham Kadhalu.[5]

He starred in films like Shrutilayalu (1987) that premiered at the International Film Festival of India, and Hindustan The Mother (2000) which premiered at the International Film Festival of India, BFI London Film Festival, and Mumbai Film Festival.[6][7][8][9] In 2007 he starred in Mee Sreyobhilashi which also premiered at the International Film Festival of India.[10] In 2014, he starred in Parampara which won the Platinum Award for Best Feature at the International Indonesian Movie Awards, and premiered at the Jakarta International Film Festival.[11][12]
