Background and promotion

On June 30, 2016, it was announced that NCT would return with a second sub-unit named NCT 127, with the number 127 referring to the longitude of Seoul.[2] NCT 127 comprises four members from the previous sub-unit NCT U (Taeyong, Jaehyun, Taeil, and Mark), and three new members (Yuta, Haechan, and WinWin).[3]

The group debuted on July 7, 2016, with the music video for their debut single "Fire Truck" set for release at midnight KST but postponed till noon on 7 July 2016.[4][5] NCT 127 performed "Fire Truck" and the B-side track "Once Again" for their debut stage on M! Countdown on July 7.[6]

The EP was digitally released on July 10, including the bonus track "Switch", which features other SM Rookies members. It was physically released on July 11.
