Mufti Abdul Qawi is a religious scholar from Pakistan. He had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party in 2013.[1] He is a former president of religious affairs of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party in Punjab.

Controversial statement about wedleases

Mufti Qavi had issued a controversial video about wedleases or temporary marriages in Islam. He is of the view point that there is one marriage in Islam however there can be several Nikah.[2]

Suspension from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Mufti Qawi's basic membership was suspended from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf due to the controversy surrounding the selfies he posed for with the late model Qandeel Baloch (1990 - 2016).[1]

Suspension from Ruet-e-hilal committee

Mufti Qawi is also suspended from the Ruet-e-hilal committee Pakistan due to his aforementioned meeting with the late model Qandeel Baloch.[3]

Nomination in model Qandeel Baloch’s murder case

Mufti Abdul Qavi’s name has been nominated in social media activist and model Qandeel Baloch’s murder case. His name has been mentioned in First Information Report (FIR) on application of Qandeel’s father Azeem.but now he has been released as free from case [4] [5][6] [7][8] He was already being investigated by the Police of Multan. [9]
