True North trilogy

The True North Trilogy is a series of horror comedy films written and directed by Kevin Smith. The trilogy consists of the films Tusk, Yoga Hosers, and Moose Jaws.

Tusk

Tusk is based on a story from Kevin Smith's SModcast podcast. It stars Michael Parks, Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez.^[1] The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, before it was released on September 19, 2014, by A24.^[2][3]

Yoga Hosers

Yoga Hosers is a spin-off of Tusk. It starred Johnny Depp alongside his daughter Lily-Rose Depp and Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith. On August 20, 2014, Smith tweeted that production had begun. On June 11, 2015, Smith announced the movie had been completed. The film premiered at a midnight screening during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.^[4] Invincible Pictures acquired distribution rights to the film, and scheduled the film for a July 29, 2016, release.^[5]

Moose Jaws

Moose Jaws is basically "Jaws with a Moose".^[6] In June 2015, Harley Morenstein of Epic Meal Time confirmed he will be the lead in the film, following an appearance in the other two offerings.^[7] Also in June, Smith revealed that Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp will reprise their roles from Yoga Hosers.^[8] In September 2015, Kevin Smith mentioned that his character Silent Bob will be eaten by the killer moose.^[9]

In January 2016, Smith confirmed that Jay and Silent Bob will appear in Moose Jaws.^[10] In February 2016, Smith revealed that filming on Moose Jaws would start in July 2016 in Saskatchewan, Canada.^[11] Although on Hollywood Babble-On, Smith revealed filming was slated to begin in May 2016.^[12] As of September 2016, filming on the film has not yet begun because of Smith's directing on The Flash.
