Its goal is to represent the interests of the Montenegrin minority and its members in the National, Provincial and Municipal Assemblies.

The party is led by Nenad Stevović. After collecting 11,111 signatures, surpassing the required amount of 10,000 signatures, the Montenegrin Party was registered as a minority list in the upcoming 11 May general elections. However, their turnout at the general elections was low, only gaining 2,923 votes, failing to obtain a seat in the Serbian National Assembly.

The Prokuplje Municipal Board of the Montenegrin Party will represent the Montenegrin minority of the municipality for the first time, as well as its interests and rights at local and federal levels.
