Mississippi Highway 531 (MS 531) is a two-lane state highway in Mississippi that runs north–south for approximately 12.2 miles (19,600 m). It connects the cities of Taylorsville and Bay Springs.

Route description

MS 531 is a auxiliary route in the state highway system, and as such, is not kept to the same standards as primary routes. The road has several unusually sharp curves, with very few areas actually being able to reach the posted 55 miles per hour (89 km/h) speed limit set by the state. The road has only been paved with hot mix asphalt a handful of times, with subsequent resurfacing jobs being performed using the chip seal method. This has helped give the highway the nickname of "Death Road" by local residents, as the steep slopes, sharp curves, and poor surface traction combining to lead to a higher than normal amount of fatal accidents during inclement weather.
