Political

While at high school, he became president of his class. He made local history by being the youngest person ever elected to the local school board. He was only 19 years of age. Soon after that he was elected to the Healdsburg City Council. He spent six years with the council and was also mayor during a period of that time. He became a Sonoma County supervisor in 2010.[3]

In April 2015, he introduced bill SB 643. This bill that would legalize and regulate the medical marijuana industry.
