Mihai Mocanu (24 February 1942 - 18 June 2009) was a Romanian football defender.

He was born in Constanţa and debuted in Divizia A with Petrolul Ploieşti in 1963. He remained with Petrolul for the remainder of his career, except for the years 1972-1974 which he spent in Omonia Nicosia.

Mocanu got 33 caps for the Romanian national team between 1967 and 1978. He represented his country at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, where he attracted attention for the uncompromising vigour of his tackles.

In July 2006, Mocanu had part of his foot removed during surgery due to health concerns.
