Max Gerald Myer Benjamin Herman (born 2 August 1984) is a Film Composer/Record Producer and Songwriter. He has composed, written and produced music for motion picture, worldwide sporting events and multi platinum recording artists. Herman's works are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. Max has produced and recorded music for various artists and composers at world renown studios such as Air Studios, Metropolis Studios, Strong Rooms, Abbey Road, Sarm, Katara Studios, Doha[1] and various other major studios across the UK and the World.

May 1, 2014, the Opening Ceremony of King Abdullah Sports City nicknamed the Shining Jewel took place in Saudi Arabia. Max was commissioned to compose the Music for the ceremony. The ceremony lasted an hour and a half and ended with a huge fireworks display. Over 84,115 diverse fans filled the stadium, over occupying the stadium's capacity of 62,241. It was considered to be one of the greatest sports-related events in the history of Saudi Arabia. The ceremony was attended by King Abdullah ibn Abdilazīz, along with Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.[2]

Early life

Max was born in Cambridge, United Kingdom. As a young child, Max focused on mastering the violin and piano. Max moved to London as a teenager, where he attended Westminster University and collaborated with the Royal College of Music where he was invited to compose contemporary Classical Music for Operatic performers, Quartets and Quintets, performed by Opera singer Katherine Sayles.

Early Live Performances

Max began his career in the music industry playing Piano, Keyboard and Synthesis in 2001, for artists such as Lemar Obika, George Benson, Sam Moore and others. Max can be seen briefly playing keyboards at The Royal Albert Hall where Lemar performed with George Benson to celebrate his lifetime achievement award.[3] A couple of the large scale venues Max has performed at have been The Royal Albert Hall and Earls Court Arena.

Hollywood Film Composer

A shift in Max's career occurred in 2005 with the film Over The Hedge. Film composer Rupert Gregson-Williams was looking for an assistant on the DreamWorks animation "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" and asked Max if he would be interested.[6] Max went on to learn music composition and music production from Rupert Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer [7] Since then Max has scored Movies, TV Series and Global Advertisements, recently scoring The HOA a new TV series starring American comic actress Cheri Oteri, best known for her roles as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.[8]

In 2014 Film Director and X Factor TV Producer Autumn Devitry collaborated with Max and asked if he would be interested in scoring her up and coming film Altered Reality starring Rachele Brooke Smith.[9]

August 2016 Director Nathan Gallagher, Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas Y3 commissioned Max to compose original music to the "Y-3 SPORT | The Future of Sportswear A/W16 Campaign" The composition is called "Nuclear Fission" [10] The campaign was released on October 13, 2016 globally.

Record Production

As a Record Producer, Max has collborated and produced with many Artists and Composers such as, Jay Sean, Karl Wolf, Ennio Morricone, Paloma Faith, The Saturdays, Eternal, VV Brown, Karl Wolf, Carl Douglas, Hamza Hawsawi (X factor Winner), Ayia Gold[11] and others. 2011, Max alongside Radhika Vekaria Wrote, Produced and Composed the Theme Song Yalla Asia, for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup held in Qatar.

Max opened his first commercial studio at the world famous Metropolis Studios in September 2015 which he co-owned for 8 months until moving to Trevor Horn's Sarm West Studios in July 2016.

Opening Ceremonies and Events

Max has composed Orchestral Scores and Theme Songs for the opening of the "FIFA Jewel Stadium" in King Abdullah Sports City, Saudi Arabia an excerpt from the ceremony "The Beginning" and The Asian Football Confederation, Doha/Qatar "Yalla Asia".

Charity

For charitable organisations Max composed the music for The Hunting Moon a fund raising internet viral for the Charitable organisations Malaria No More and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The viral was directed by award winning Director Robert Samuels[13][14]

"Mark One Group" and the UK based charity "Help Harry Help Others" ask Max to compose "Harry's Theme", the True Story about a young boy named "Harry Moseley" and how he laid the foundations for "Help Harry Help Others". Consequently the charity has now raised over £650,000 for brain cancer research.[15]
