Markus Gier (born 1 January 1970) is a Swiss competition rower and Olympic champion. He hails from Sankt Gallen.

Together with his brother Michael Gier Gier won a gold medal in lightweight double sculls, at the 1996 Summer Olympics.[1] The two brothers also competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where they finished 5th.

He was in the Silver Medal LM4x in Bled 1989 along with Reto Fierz (b) Philipp Ferlber (2) Cirillo Ghielmetti (3)
