The Markar Clock Tower also known as Borj-e Sa'at-e Markar (Persian: برج ساعت مارکار) is the historical clock tower in Yazd, Iran.

History

The Markar clock tower or Borj-e Sa'at Markar is located in the middle of Midaneh Sa'at Markar (the Marker Clock Plaza) and is the legacy of Pestonji Marker's generous community spirit.[1][2] Mirza Soroush obtained permission for, and supervised the construction of the Marker Plaza with gardens around it. The plaza is situated on the road to Kerman just north of the Markerabad school entrance. The permissions from the municipality did not come by easily.

Etymology

Sa'at means "clock", which refers to the four face clock in top of the tower.
