Biography

Marius Moga was born in Romania, in the historic city of Alba Iulia. After learning to play the piano, he moved on to sequencers, synthesizers and programming, so by the time he was 16, he had written songs for 11 local acts ranging from pop/dance to R'n'B and club. At 18 years old he caught a train to Bucharest to chase his dream. A couple of months later, he achieved his first No.1 with the pop band Akcent, signed by Roton Romania. The song generated a significant interest in the young producer, and he was in high demand, soon working with almost all the big names around at the time. Marius Moga became a brand, delivering hits and new acts signed with BMG, Sony and Roton.

Moga is currently working on projects with Universal Music, Sony BMG and collaborating with A&Rs like Matt Jagger and Wolfgang Boss regarding new artists to be released soon, best fitting need for fresh tracks with hit-like flavour. Marius Moga did various productions and remixes for international artists such as Lumidee, Hilary Duff, Infernal, RBD and also wrote songs for numerous Greek, Bulgarian and Russian artists.

O-Zone's no. 1 international hit "Dragostea din tei" ("The Numa-Numa song") was produced in Moga's Bucharest studio.

His record includes achievements such as:- 12 gold and platinum discs all together- 5 MTV awards: 2X Best Video(director), Best Producer, Best Album, Best Romanian Song at the 2008 EMA's in Liverpool

Marius Moga now owns a studio in Bucharest, Romania, but regularly flies to London and Los Angeles, working to produce pop and urban tracks for upcoming artists.

Marius Moga placed songs on movie soundtracks for Tony Scott's "Domino" (starring Keira Knightley and Mickey Rourke), Simon Fellows' "7 seconds" (starring Wesley Snipes) and two other Romanian films, one of which was selected for a movie festival in Berlin.

Moga also wrote scoring for television series like "One step ahead", "Daria, my love", "Rich Man - Poor Man", produced by Media Pro Pictures for CME. He has worked with director Anthony Hickox on the series "Shoot me!" and he has written music for the Fashion TV Channel.

One of Marius Moga’s main project (as a manager, producer, composer, singer and video director all together) is the ‘record-breaking-sensation’ band, Morandi, a fresh project built up with Andrei Ropcea.

The band has released 3 successful albums so far. All the Morandi singles peaked at no. 1 in Russia, Poland, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine and were widely played in Egypt, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Spain, Turkey, Italy and Greece.

Morandi’s third album, "N3XT", went 5 times platinum in Russia due to phenomenal sales. Hence, Morandi became the best selling artist in Russia and one of the most successful bands in Eastern Europe.

Their hit "Angels (Love is the answer)" is the most downloaded digital product of all times in Russia and Ukraine. The single totalized 554,975 plays on 122 radio stations from 413 Russian cities. That means approximately 14,999 plays per week and 2,142 plays per day all across Russia, for more than 9 months. Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk, two of the best DJs in the world, are currently playing Moga's remixed 'Angels' with phenomenal response from the audiences.

The group had over 100 international concerts in countries including: UK, Russia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and The Baltic Countries. Morandi has received many awards in recognition of their international success, such as: Best Romanian Act at the Liverpool EMA's and the Best International Hit Award at the Eska Awards in Poland, where they performed as special guests together with The Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Akon and Ne-Yo.

Morandi's 4th studio album, "Zebra", will be released later this year. An album about contrasts, rendered to the greatest extent by merging clubbing music with fusion brit pop, "Zebra" will be a most important Eastern and Central European music release this year.

He also directed some music videos. This 'hobby' won him 2 MTV Best Video Awards! Being versatile and interested in all aspects of creation, he developed his skills range from writer/producer to video directing, managing artists and publishing songs.
