Controversies

Malaysian general election, 2013

ISMA has declared that they are not a political party and still a NGO while joining the Malaysian general election, 2013.[1] The joining of their members were based on the ticket of BERJASA party.[2] None of their members who joined the general elections won although Isma states that there were people supporting their motive for joining the general election.[3][4]

Hudud

ISMA statements about hudud, the Islamic law, have caused controversies among the Malaysians. Its president, Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman statements about the Chinese who rejected hudud as intruder recently has caused a spark among the Chinese in Malaysia.[5][6][7] Abdullah Zaik refused to apologise despite numerous police reports having been lodged against him. He remains a highly controversial figure.[8]
