Máire Ó Ciaragain

Maire o Ciaragain or Máire Ní Ciaragain, also called Maria Kerrigan^[1] was an Irish female warlord, ruler of a sept in Fermanagh.^[2]

She from Armagh who led the Irish clans in open revolt against the English of The Pale, the Earldom of Leinster and the Earldom of Ulster in the 15th century. She may have had the support of the Earl of Desmond. She was probably the wife or daughter of the chief of Clan Kerrigan. She earned respect from the English by her reputation of never taking English prisoners.^[3]
