Magnus Lidehäll is a Swedish producer who started as part of the duo Afasi & Filthy (2002-2009) where he was known with his stage name Filthy.^[1] Today he is a Swedish grammy awarded songwriter and producer.

In Afasi & Filthy

Magnus Lidehäll started in a rap / hip hop duo alongside Herbert Munkhammar called Afasi & Filthy. Lidehäll and Munkhammar were classmates in Uppsala and later moved to Malmö. Lidehäll was the producer (known as Filthy) and Herbert Munkhammar (known as Afasi) the vocalist of the band. Filthy released his first mixtape in the autumn of 2001 entiteled Snus, Porr & Brännvin with the rapper Spakur. The mixtape caught the attention of indie label/website Streetzone where Afasi & Filthy later released the EP 1990 Nånting.^[2] The title track from the EP, which included collaboration with the band Snook, was released to radio in spring 2003 and charted in Sweden.

Based on this radio success, the duo signed a contract with BMG, releasing the single "Bomfalleralla". But after disagreements, they broke the contract with BMG in Spring 2005 preferring to work independently. Their first single on their own label was "Le Parkour" followed by EP Jag kunde inte bry mig mindre. Albums Skruvat & choppat av Afasi in 2006 and Hotell Stress were released, the latter in 2 separate volumes in 2006 and 2007. Fläcken is the band's critically acclaimed final album under the duo name. The duo continued under the name Afasi & Filthy until 2009 when they both decided to join Maskinen. Afasi later became part of another singing duo Ansiktet. Afasi was featured as a guest singer on Grandmaster Flash album The Bridge on the song "We Speak Hip Hop". In January 2009, Afasi & Filthy won a Swedish Grammy in "Best Dance/Hip hop/Soul category" for their album Fläcken.^[3][4]

Songwriter / Producer

Over the last years Lindhäll have focused mainly on songwriting and producing. He has written and produced songs and albums for both Swedish and international artists such as Britney Spears, Sky Ferreira, Kylie Minogue, Veronica Maggio and many more. He has also worked with producers such as Bloodshy & Avant and Sebastian Ingrosso. Today he writes and produces a lot of music together with Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir and together the trio collected the award for Composer of the year at the Swedish grammis 2014.^[5]

Magnus co-wrote and produced (together with Bloodshy & Henrik Jonback) "How I Roll" & "Trip To Your Heart", from Britney Spears'^[6] album Femme Fatale,^[7] which was released in March 2011.^[8]

In 2013 Magnus co-wrote and produced albums for Veronica Maggio and Petter (rapper) together with Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir. He also co-wrote and produced "Love Me" from Katy Perry's 2013 album Prism (Katy Perry album) together with Bloodshy and Vincent Pontare and Camela Leierth.^[9] He also co-wrote and produced the single "Don't Wait" from Mapei, released on Downtown Records in the same year.^[10]

Lindhäll also produced and co-wrote songs for Seinabo Sey's debut EP "For Madeleine" together with Vincent Pontare, Salem Al Fakir and Oskar Linnros^[11]

In 2014, Magnus worked with Avicii & Madonna on 11 demos for her new album, when Avicii became too ill & busy, Magnus finished the songs with Madonna. Some of the songs include "Rebel Heart", "Inside Out", "Messiah", "Addicted", "Devil Prays", "Borrowed Time", "Wash All Over Me", "Heartbreak City" and "Two Steps Behind".^[12]

In 2014 the coca-cola campaign "Share the sound of an AIDS free generation" saw several artists such as Bono, Deadmau5, Avicii, Wyclef Jean and OneRepublic try to spread awareness through unreleased songs and other means. The trio Magnus Lidehäll, Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare co-wrote Wyclef Jean and Avicii's song Divine Sorrow which also was the lead single from Wyclef's album Clefication.^[13]

Studio Gottefar

Studio Gottefar is managed by Magnus Lindhäll, Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir and is located in the old Traxton studios near Slussen in Stockholm, Sweden. Jonas Wikström, friend of the trio and head of A&R at Universal Music Publishing Group Scandinavia, described Gottefar as "a creative hub for working with diverse artists and projects".^[14]
