Madhepura (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: मधेपुरा विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Madhepura district in the Indian state of Bihar. In Bihar Legislative Assembly election, 2015, Madhepura will be one of the 36 seats to have VVPAT enabled electronic voting machines.[1][2]

Overview

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 73 Madhepura (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Madhepura, Ghamharia and Ghailadh community development blocks; Belo, Nadhi, Jitapur, Bhatkhora, Tamot Parsa and Parwa Navtol gram panchayats of Murliganj CD Block.[3]

Madhepura (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 13 Madhepura (Lok Sabha constituency) .[3]

Election results

1977-2010

In the 2010 state assembly elections, Chandrasekhar of RJD won the Madhepura assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Dr. Ramendra Kumar Yadav Ravi of JD(U).[4]Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Manindra Kumar Mandal of JD(U) defeated Dr. Ashok Kumar of RJD in October 2005 and Chandrasekhar Yadav, Independent, in February 2005. Rajendra Prasad Yadav of RJD defeated Kapil Deb Mandal of JD(U) in 2000. Parameshwari Prasad Nirala of JD defeated Rajendra Prasad Yadav of Congress in 1995. Radha Kant Yadav of JD defeated Manindra Kumar Mandal of Congress in 1990. Bhola Prasad Mandal of Congress defeated Radha Kant Yadav of LD in 1985. Radha Kant Yadav of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh)/ Janata Party defeated Manindra Kumar Yadav of Congress in 1980 and Jai Krishna Yadav of Congress in 1977.[5]
