Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a form of competitive combat sport, akin to boxing, muay thai, or kick boxing. Martial arts competition has arrived in many forms, including the classical Greek Pankration Both formal martial arts and No-holds-barred fighting have been recorded, but modern mixed martial arts have only enjoyed official athletic sanction in the modern era.[1] The following list features mixed martial artists who have competed in the most bouts that were approved and regulated by a formal sanctioning body.[2] This includes mixed martial arts and shoot fighting, but excludes bouts in specific forms, such as boxing, grappling, or wrestling. It also excludes any unregulated bouts.
