Léa Cristina Lexa Araújo,[1] (born February 22, 1995) better known by her stage name Lexa, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and dancer. In September 2015, Lexa released her debut studio album, titled Disponível. Five singles were released from this album.

Biography

Léa Cristina Araujo da Fonseca, known professionally as Lexa, was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro on February 22, 1995 to music producer Darlin Ferrattry, who gave her the nickname Lexa when she was three years old, as a reference to Xuxa, whom Lexa was a fan of. Encouraged by musicians in the family, she wrote her first song at the age of nine. She has had a very close relationship with her biological father since childhood despite being raised by her stepfather, the musician Cocoa Jr. As a child, she began taking vocal, piano and guitar lessons.

The first presentation of Lexa on a stage happened when she was 16 years old.[2] She worked in a construction company and was accepted into two courses of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and said in an interview: "Singing has always been my biggest wish. I studied because I think it's important to have a solid plan, a place to come back, because if it does not work, you have to have a plan B. I passed [university], I'm proud of it.. because it was something I really wanted, but more than that, I really wanted to sing." She later dropped out of college to pursue a music career. She also worked in a bakery before investing in the musical career and has lived in Brasília, Belém and São Paulo.

2014–present: Disponível

Batutinha was discovered Lexa by music producer, who, after seeing it on YouTube, presented the employer Kamilla Fialho,[3] who hired through K2L Entertainment talent agency. Thus, in December 2014 is released the first single from Lexa, the "Posso Ser" song, which reached the Top 30 in the parade Hot 100 Airplay, Billboard Brazil, and became the 93rd most played song on Brazilian radio stations 2015 music video took 15 hours to be recorded and was directed Raoni Carneiro. October 26 is released by second radio single album, "Pior que Sinto Falta", whose music video was released on the same day. On November 18, Lexa received the Revelation Award singer in the 14th edition of the Youth Award of Brazil, which also carried out an interpretation of the "Pior que Sinto Falta" song. On December 12, 2015, Lexa began with Disponível Tour debut show held in the city of Rio de Janeiro. On December 23, the music video for "Fogo" song, rapper MC Guime with one Lexa is released.[5]

2016: Mallupy

The Lexa singer signed a contract with the new company to Entertainment Mallupy, leaving the old K2L and solving problems in court with his former empresaria Kamilla.[6]

Lexa musical genre is classified as Pop and incorporates elements of Funk melody.[7] Her songs also feature other genres and influences, such as R&B and Electropop. Feminism and women empowerment are themes often depicted in Lexa's music. The singer stated that when it comes to Brazilian music, her main references are Sandy, Marisa Monte and Ivete Sangalo, pointing Sandy as "her greatest idol of Brazilian music".[8] In the international pop music, the singer cites as her main influences Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, plus the rock band Guns N' Roses.[9]

Lexa has been dating rapper MC Guimê since December 2015.[10]
