the Philippines

The Legislative Districts of South Cotabato, namely the first and second districts are the representations of the Province of South Cotabato and the independent city of General Santos in the Philippine House of Representatives. South Cotabato was part of the representation of the Cotabato until 1965 and Region XI from 1978 to 1984. From 1984 to 1986, it elected 3 assemblymen at-large. In 1986, it was divided into three legislative districts, but was reduced to two legislative districts in 1995, with the creation from its territory of Sarangani Province. In the 2007 Elections, Manny Pacquiao ran unsuccessfully for representative of the 1st District of South Cotabato.
