Laurie Mansfield (born 27 March 1943) is a theatrical agent from Birmingham.[1]

He is best known as being an agent of British comedians during the 1970's and 1980's, most famously representing Jim Davidson, Ken Dodd, Cannon & Ball, The Krankies, Tommy Steele, Eddie Large and Freddie Starr.[2]

Early life

Laurie Mansfield started his show business career in the mid-1960s, when he joined CBS Records as a salesperson, and then in 1969 as an agent for International Artistes Ltd, an all-purpose management agency in the UK.[3]

In 2010, he left the regional pantomime company, Qdos Entertainment, to set up his own theatrical and management agency, Laurie Mansfield Associates, with his son Peter.

Theatre producer

In 1989, Laurie Mansfield was co-producer of Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, a jukebox musical which ran for over 12 years in London's West End.[4]

In the mid 1990s, he co-produced the musical Jolson in London’s West End, which won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 1996.[5]

In 2009, he acted as co-producer of a stage musical called Dreamboats and Petticoats, with the theatre producer, Bill Kenwright.[6]

Charity work

Laurie Mansfield is a Trustee of the British Forces Foundation (founded by Jim Davidson).[7] and since 1994 has been an honorary Life-President of the Royal Variety Charity.[8]
