Kristania Virginia Besouw (born in Manado, May 7, 1985) was Miss Indonesia 2006. She was the first Miss Indonesia in the Miss World Pageant (2006 in Poland) representing North Sulawesi.[1] She placed within the big 24 Miss Sport. She is active within the UNICEF program to inform of the importancy of measles vaccination for babies.

She moved to the United States to pursue a degree in Nursing via a student visa, leaving her study in Economics at Sam Ratulangi University.

Personal life

Kristania married a medical doctor graduated from Philippines in 2008. Now she lives in the United States, residing in Colby, Kansas. She got her US citizen directly after passing the MAVNI (Military Accessions Vital to National Interest) program for those who study in US for at least 2 years. She took the program due to a lack of funds for her studies and plans to visit her home in Indonesia. She never visited Indonesia until 2015 (8 years after arriving), so she didn't see her father before he died in 2011. Her father was in the Navy and her grandfather was a policeman. She is on active duty in Killeen, Texas at the Fort Hood army base, working as a nurse. She was decorated with an "expert shooter pin" while still in training.[2]
