Knute Buehler is an American politician. A Republican, he currently serves in the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 54 in Bend.[1] Previously, he was the unsuccessful Republican Party nominee for Oregon Secretary of State in 2012, losing to incumbent Democrat Kate Brown.[2] He won election to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2014, defeating Democrat Craig Wilhelm.[3]

Personal life

Buehler is originally from Roseburg, Oregon.[4] He attended Oregon State University (OSU) where he played on the baseball team.[5] He graduated from OSU in 1986 with degrees in history and microbiology.[5] Buehler then attended the University of Oxford as OSU's first Rhodes Scholar before graduating from Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland.[5]

An orthopedic surgeon, he lives in Bend in Central Oregon with his wife and two children.[5] He worked on political independent Ross Perot's presidential campaign in 1992.
