Kingdom is the upcoming second studio album by English electronic music production duo Gorgon City. The album is set to be a double-album released by Virgin EMI Records. The album is set to feature the likes of Yasmin, MNEK, Laura Welsh, Katy Menditta, Vaults, Tink, Mikky Ekko, Wyclef Jean and Elderbrook.[1]

Background

The concept for the album started when Gorgon City began to release material for their debut studio album, entitled Sirens, which includes many of the tracks that are planning to be released through the album. The duo's debut single and lead single from their debut studio album, entitled "Real", featuring vocals from musician Yasmin, was released in February 2013. The song was released as a digital download as well confirming the release of the duo's debut extended play under the same name, which was released the same day. The EP included the songs "Thor", "Athena" and "10 Below". The song sparked much interest about the duo recording and producing material for their debut studio album.

Afterwards, the duo got signed to Virgin EMI Records, a record label owned by the Universal Music Group. This sparked the launch of their official YouTube channel and working further on music.

After their signing, they recorded and released their second single, which was the first single made outside of the extended play, entitled "Ready for Your Love", featuring vocals from rising musician and record producer MNEK, was released in December 2013. On the day of the song's release, the song went viral and ended up being one of the duo's chart hits, peaking at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart.

The third single form the album, entitled "Here for You", featuring vocals from indie pop singer Laura Welsh, was released in May 2014 as the album's first promotional single. The song was second song from the album to enter the charts, peaking at number 7. The song was followed by the fourth single and second promotional single from the album, entitled "Unmissable", featuring vocals from Zak Abel, which was released in September 2014. This was the last single to be released before the duo's debut studio album Sirens was released the following month.

After the album was released, the album also released two more singles, entitled "Go All Night", featuring vocals from Jennifer Hudson, and Imagination", featuring vocals form Katy Menditta, which were released in December 2014 and March 2015, respectively.

After the two singles were released, the duo embarked on their major headlining tour during the summer months of 2015. This was around the time when they started recording and producing more material. During the tour, they debuted a new song, entitled "Saving My Life", featuring vocals from musician ROMANS. The song was officially released as a single in August 2015. On the day of its release, it sparked much interest on the duo producing their second studio album.

Then, after a long break, the duo made an unexpected return with their first single of 2016, entitled "All Four Walls", featuring vocals from British band Vaults, which was officially released in April 2016.

Around the time of the song's release, the duo announced their second studio album, under the title Kingdom and that it was expected to come in two parts, with the first part being released in August 2016. They also released on official playlist of the album on digital streaming platform Spotify, revealing that songs from their previous album are likely to appear on it. It also announced "Saving My Life" as a non-album single. Furthermore, the duo said that they were to release new song every three weeks.

The announcement led to singles "Impaired Vision", featuring vocals from musician Tink and Mikky Ekko, and "Zoom Zoom", featuring vocals from singer and record producer Wyclef Jean, being released, as well as promotional singles "Blue Parrot", "Doubts" and "Smoke".
