Katharine Pooley is an award winning[1] British interior designer based in Chelsea, London.[2]

Early life

British born Katharine Pooley was educated at St Mary's School, Oxfordshire and attended INSA University[3] in Lyon, France. She spent 14 years living in Hong Kong where she worked for Morgan Stanley and Barclays Bank. She has also lived in Vietnam, Singapore, Bahrain and London.

Career

Born into a family which has always had strong connections to the world of aviation, Katharine developed a passion for travel from an early age. To date she has visited 196 countries indulging her love of mountaineering wherever possible. She has experienced many different cultures which have been incorporated into her own personal style and inspired her tastes in every aspect of her life.

Pooley's first botique was opened in 2004, with a design studio opening the following year.[4] Having decorated an apartment in Hong Kong, a mansion in Singapore, a beach villa in Thailand, a restored Scottish castle,[5] a ski lodge in Colorado, and a house in Knightsbridge,[6] Pooley opened an Interiors boutique in London,[4] set up an Interior Design Company[6] and opened a showroom in Doha.[7] The boutiques offer a Wedding List Service and a Home Dressing Advisory Service, as well as selling objects from around the world.

Style

Pooley's style is one of luxury and refinement, and is reflected in all her interior design work. She will happily embellish a traditionally English leather armchair with a fur throw from Colorado, and introduce an antique Chinese cabinet into the same room for good measure.

Katharine Pooley offers a full Interior Design service by employing specialists in Architecture, Interior Building Design and Interior Design as well as teams who specialize in the procurement of every item needed for a modern beautiful home. The company also design shop interiors and business premises, with a number of international projects always on the go.

Personal life

Katharine is married to Dan. They have two children, Charlie and Jack.

Apart from her passion for interiors and travel, Katharine loves cookery. She has attended several prestigious cookery courses, namely Cordon Bleu and Prue Leith. In 2003 she published a travel diary cookbook, A Taste of My World,[8] which is available in her London store.

Katharine devotes much of her spare time to mountaineering, her dream being to climb Mount Everest. When she is not travelling around the world, she enjoys sports and loves animals, especially her dogs. She divides her time between Asia, London and Scotland. The family home in Scotland is Forter Castle.[9]
